Food and Nutrition

The World Food Programme (WFP) has allocated $5 million for rehabilitation activities in Orissa. This will include food supplies for 210,000 beneficiaries belonging to vulnerable group, primary school feeding for 125,000 students and 18,000 beneficiaries in the food for work program. WFP will support NGOs to implement these activities.

World Food Program plans to spend $ 5 million for the victims of the affected districts of Orissa

World Food Program funds shall be used for the construction of anganwari centres and allocated for Women & Child Development. WFP has committed support of Corn Soya Blend / India Mix to all the Blocks of Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts.

It is proposed to construct and repair 450 anganwari centres, 100 primary schools, and 18,000 houses. Reporting system in ICDS to be streamlined immediately to get early signals on nutrition levels in the affected districts.
